Recorded on 25 July 2004 at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Virginia, “Live At Wolf Trap” captures The Doobie Brothers in fine form on a set that mixes classic hits with some rarely performed tracks from across their extensive catalogue. This would prove to be the last recorded footage of long time drummer Keith Knudsen performing with the Doobie Brothers, Mike Hossack too has now passed away. Originally released in the autumn of 2004, the show is now being reissued on DVD and CD and will be released on Blu-ray for the first time.

‘InTheStudio’ Salutes The DOOBIE BROTHERS On The 40th Anniversary Of The Captain And Me With Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons

Dallas, TX – MARCH 4, 2013. North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the 40th anniversary of The Doobie Brothers’ third album The Captain and Me. After the breakthrough success of the Doobies’ second album Toulouse Street, the band was poised to add to their new found popularity, and did so with the 1973 million seller The Captain and Me which would garner the Top 10 hits “Long Train Runnin’” and the signature FM rock classic “China Grove”. The road demands on the band would prove to be especially difficult for singer/guitarist Tom Johnston, who reveals to InTheStudio host Redbeard how creative songwriting doesn’t always adapt well to the grind of a working band.

“After a while the road becomes such a factor that it becomes hard to be as creative as you were, because you’re not as carefree. Your life is scheduled. You’re going to do the soundcheck, you’re going to go back to the room, (then) back to the stage to do the show, and then back to your room, throw all these wet clothes into a bag and head off to the next town. You do that for month after month, and all those tours just become a blur.”
